In this Part Two session, two esteemed speakers, Mary James, an Executive Editor with Springer Nature, and Steven Parker, the Editor-in-Chief of AEE’s International Journal of Energy Management, will offer guidance to those looking to get their voices published. From journal articles to books, these insiders will offer a peak behind the curtain of traditional publishing.
About the Presenters:
Mary James is an Executive Acquisitions Editor at Springer Nature in NYC, focusing on acquiring and publishing communications engineering, signal processing, and optical networking books. She was named an Advisor at the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in August 2024 and is part of Springer Nature’s steering committee for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 9. Previously, she worked at John Wiley & Sons Publishers and Morgan Kaufmann/Elsevier, acquiring and developing books in various technology fields, including artificial intelligence.
Steven Parker is an energy engineer and researcher who serves as editor-in-chief for the Association of Energy Engineers’ International Journal of Energy Management (IJEM). He has written numerous publications and given presentations on energy management, and his current role involves recruiting writers for AEE’s journals. Steven also chairs AEE’s exam development committee for the certified energy manager’s program and has held several leadership positions within AEE, including serving as president in 2002. Steven was inducted into AEE’s Energy Managers Hall of Fame in 2004 and became an AEE Fellow in 2013.
