April Event Highlights: Financial Literacy Takes Center Stage

CWEEL New England hosted a virtual event on financial literacy, led by Danielle Owens, a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual. Sixteen attendees participated in an engaging session packed with valuable insights.

  • Jamie provided an overview of CWEEL and various ways to get involved, promoting upcoming summer happy hours for networking and connection.
  • Danielle kicked off her presentation with interactive polls to assess the audience's financial knowledge and personal situations.
  • Key Topics Covered: Protecting assets (especially income), the 20/60/20 rule for saving and investing, debt management (prioritizing credit card debt reduction), and balancing debt spend-down based on interest rates.
  • Q&A Session: The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session addressing budgeting tools, strategies for managing unemployment, and the impact of the current financial climate on saving and spending.
